ARE HAPPINESS AND JOY THE SAME?

    GOOD MORNING!

A weekend thought to ponder.  This is a life Truth for me.

Happiness and joy are often found together.   There are moments in time when both co-exist but then life with its inevitable ups and downs flows on.     Happiness is a fleeting emotion.  Joy and happiness and joy purely as ‘emotions’ are fleeting and as ethereal as the wind.

Pursuit of happiness is the lie of our modern world.   You can pursue happiness and through your own efforts try EVERY avenue including many that are harmful to life and living but HAPPINESS strived for and found often lasts very fleetingly.

I remember the story of a famous footballer who said ‘ I have found all my happiness in my football’   Sadly when his football days were over and he was no longer fit and healthy he took his own life.   ‘ I have nothing to live for.’Bubbles 6

Let’s look at JOY.      Joy is far more than an emotion.  It, in fact, can be a life Gift and an internal Blessing that will transform all our thinking and our quality of life.   It can bring us both contentment and happiness.

JOY can be likened to a ‘internal’ unseen bubble.

It is the bubble of Hope inside that keeps us stable even in the midst of troubles.   It surprises by its power.   To me it is God’s Presence and unexpected but real is the comfort.

I understand it but find it hard to explain.

A long-time ago King who faced a terrible battle left in the record of Old Testament Writing in the Bible this powerful statement.

THE JOY OF THE LORD

IS MY STRENGTH.

It is also for me.  Deep, deep inside this bubble  keeps me flowing and glowing.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.   MAY YOU FIND BEAUTY AND PEACE IN ALL YOUR PURSUITS.

Is internal JOY in your life?     As you ponder remember it is a Gift of God the Holy Spirit.

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.
