GOOD MORNING!
Maybe this can be pondered as you go about life. I once wrote ‘Life is full of needles and pins and the irritations which challenge my day.’
I know this to be true. Every day has its petty little very human intrusions. Some of them you can think about and laugh – most of them we probably should identify and brush aside immediately and not allow to be more than part of living. See them for what they are – LAUGH – (I for an example was not amused – many years ago – when my eight year old son was demonstrating a bowling tactic and ‘clean bowled’ with a salt shaker, a jug of milk.) The milk poured over the table and soaked through the raffia matting on the floor. I was not amused back then – it was a major setback and intrusion into MY day’s schedule.- I put on a bit of a dramatic ‘poor mother’ and allowed the incident to upset and mar my day’s whole attitude. I had to wash the tablecloth, move the table and chairs and take up a section of flooring. The matting was thrown out (the smell of milk lingers). How much easier our whole life became when we had now a a simple wooden floor!
This memory today is one of our family’s points of reference to the richness and varied life we had when everyone was younger. This memory is rich in LAUGHTER.
A challenge for us all today is to see the needles and pins for what they really are. Sometimes these non-life threatening irritations should be dealt with and not allowed to dominate. It is the same with minor hurts – O how we need to learn to brush them off! Don’t let the trivial mar the day’s BEAUTIFUL POTENTIAL.
BUT: When it comes to darts – these have to be handled (I certainly believe) in a very different and more emphatic way. I will make dodging and dealing with darts tomorrow’s THOUGHT.
Tuesday has just dawned here. Lets all recognise the needles and pins – move away from focussing on the upsets and find a gem of real BEAUTY today.
SMILE – make the world around you brighter!
Amen Faye! “Our adversary goes about.. ” trying to stick us with “needles and pins!” 1 Peter 5:7. Good visual for me to remember!! Blessings friend, denise
