Good Morning!
It is Wednesday 26th August here, very early! Not my usual experience but for some reason I found myself completely awake. It is 3.2am. I thought I would use the time. This question was real in my mind – here I am!
Salt has amazingly useful properties. It has the inner power to cleanse – it is an ingredient in toothpaste and is unsurpassed as a whitener.
It can bind together and unify what is separated. An example I read was about a beautiful ice sculpture that was part of a Festival. The top of an exquisitely carved tower was sliced off by a wind-whipped tree branch.
The officials employed a huge crane to lift the massive chunk of ice while a bucket winch poured salt over the cut top. The tower was once again lowered into place and the two sections quickly fused back into place.
Salt savours – it has the inner quality which enhances the flavour of foods. It can make better the bland or tasteless.
We have learnt that moderation with its usage is more beneficial to health.
HOW SALTY ARE WE?
Jesus said of people who would follow HIM. ‘You are the salt of the earth!‘
We are called to be different in this 2015 world. By our ordinary lives and our daily living we are to be cleansers by our love and care, ones who bind up and restore the broken be it in lives or circumstances. And we should be making a difference – a savoury addition to the perhaps lacking, lost or needy around us. (Just by our life! simply by breathing)
I had an interesting thought here in the early morning. Are we perhaps to be so salty – so full of God’s Presence so ALIVE in these qualities that we literally erode at the health of dark deceptions.
HOW SALTY ARE WE?
Something to think about and perhaps act upon for Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday my commitment is to Prayer. (as led by the Spirit I remember blogging friends).
Have a great day! Shine your life as a LIGHT of Hope to others.
VERY interesting thought Faye. To fuse together light and dark. The salt Scripture does come immediately before the light Scripture in Matthew 5:13-14 (in case someone reading comment goes looking) To fuse together light and dark. Brings me to the Transfiguration on the mountain. Immediately following Jesus cast out the dark in the man’s child. Now, there is a thought to go digging for…light fused to cast out the dark…oh my…Resurrection!! Light fused to cast out the dark!! Whooohooo Faye, thank you for sharing:)blessings, denise
