CHRISTIAN MEDITATION – NOT A FORMAT – ALL ABOUT PRESENCE

Good Morning!

Together this coming week we’ll go on a Meditation Journey if you desire to follow.  For perhaps a Weekend Contemplation….here is another true story….part of my personal learning experiences of God

wind

Like children may we ever learn and grow. Our God is incomprehensible DIVINE.

Christian Meditation (not eastern or ‘other’ faiths or disciplines) it is all about Christ.  All about His Presence.

“I hope this won’t be too hard for you”.   The Principal knew that being a Christian Religious Education teacher was not always easy.

‘There are 13 ten-year boys on their own in this Grade 5 class this year.   They are mischievous and very hard to manage.’

They spiralled in and flopped at their desks – all cheeky grins and out of control restlessness.

I remained standing and with heart pounding introduced myself.

‘O Lord, please help me’ my inner prayer.

A firm authoritative voice boomed out …’Something different to start this term boys.  All papers, pens, absolutely everything off the desk.

NOW! for five minutes – I will time it – you are going to be totally silent.  It is quite ok to rest on your desk.  It’s hot and you all look tired.  Be quiet and still now.’

Then I prayed aloud. ‘Heavenly Father fill this classroom with Your Presence and Peace’ In Jesus’ Name a-men.

Gently I added as I also sat down. ‘Now listen to the world around us – hear sounds we may have missed.’

Then I too sat and listened.   I heard birds (I never knew before they were even at the school)…..The boys later shared about sounds none of us had noticed.

The first five minutes in that classroom in that busy public school taught me more about Christ and HIS PRESENCE than years of Bible Study had ever done.

The Principal told me later he came by to see if we were ok and thought for one second we were all unconscious.  Then the Peace hit him and he wanted to lie on the floor but went outside and sat in a quiet corner of the school garden.

Our lesson continued that day with normal teaching.

Every week for the rest of the term – through the journey of sorrows and family needs etc they always asked if each lesson could begin with the five minutes of peaceful Meditation.

As Christians we have the greatest God Gift – unlike all other faiths we alone have HIS PRESENCE WITH US –

(For your info five of these boys, encouraged and  supported by their parents, made decisions to go Christian High Schools.  I know several are devout Christian Leaders and others are husbands and fathers working and living interstate.

It never happened again – Only God put it into place It was not a format to be used as a standard.

BUT……CHRISTIAN MEDITATION is profound.

Have a great weekend!   Next week let’s go on a journey. I know I have so much to learn. Perhaps we will learn together.

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Another wonderful story and testimony to the power of Jesus Christ! Five minutes changed the course of those, and your life too from what I read and “hear”. Thank you for sharing:)
