When do you speak out – break the peace?

On Tuesday 19th January I had been invited to join a small panel of writers who had written ‘Words from Down Under’ stories uniquely about Australia.  I knew I would be the only Christian on this panel.  This blended well as our different voices were shared.   However an issue arose that disturbed me.   It was in the area of ‘forgiveness’.  National identity and a 2015 perspective of Kingdom ie  Christ as the KING ……. all nations, tribes and tongues .  One SAVIOUR.   One LORD.      For your interest I will post below an image showing  what happened. For a brief moment I know my ‘cap’ of writer slipped and Passionate Creative Christian came to the front.

My husband who took the picture felt what I did was appropriate but I know I felt more like a ‘preacher’ than a writer for a few moments.  The whole room went incredibly still.

I was not speaking here about writing.

There were gathered in the Library men, women and a TV crew.

My prayer this day is that as we journey on we do KNOW when we must speak and when we must be quiet.  If you are not a Christian what you say and write and do may not matter so much.   When you belong to HIM your whole life must reflect His Presence.

Good morning!      Journey on and light up your day with LOVE.

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Wish I could have been there to hear you. Bravo and God bless you for it. I have some emotionally conflicts as to when to speak up and when to be silent; I feel guilty if I’m quiet, but knee-jerk overbearing is I speak up.

Faye and dawnliz, of course, I do not know the circumstances but I do know a scripture which sometimes helps in these situations. Leviticus 5:1 “If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible.” I became aware of this scriptures when I was doing some Bible study lessons for my grandson. I used the example of a classroom incident where he might know the truth about who was being blamed falsely, or what he should do if he knew the truth. I don’t know whether I ever talked to him about it, but I have with others.

Agreed! It is a constant battle deciding when to speak and when to let it go by
