A WEEK-END CONTEMPLATIVE MEDITATION
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb.11:1
Can faith be taught? Yes, by ‘example’
Religion can be taught. Instruction gives information!
It is possible to spend your life learning the Christian Bible. From cover to cover and having ‘religion’ as the life force of your life. This is no bad thing…Christian ethics and morality is a civilizing force and endemic.
BUT…………
(and I taught ‘Religious Instruction’ for thirty years) .I continue to pray that the ‘information’ I gave children will point them in the right direction.
BUT……..We also taught our own children…BUT……….
Christian ‘faith’ cannot be given, taught or learnt.
It is a GIFT yes but it is all about ONE PERSON.
There has and is no other like HIM.
We can and must respect other ‘religions’ lifestyles, ideas ,principles and academic pursuits but we CANNOT ever compromise .
There is only one CHRIST.
Totally surrendered to Him, Our lives, minds, hearts, academic pursuits. EVERYTHING.
Now either HE is LORD of ALL then He is not LORD at all.
Now that is
F A I T H
One Saviour! One Lord!
THE PERSON is the story. He’s in the BOOK but He is not the BOOK.
He is the LIVING WORD.
As little children, we must come. That is FAITH.
He alone is GOD WITHIN.
Let’s ponder and pray. Do I have ‘faith?’ Can I find ‘faith?’
or Do I have religion?
For now we see in a mirror dimly but then face to face. Now I know in part but then I shall know Just as I am known. Abide in faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is LOVE.
1 Cor.13:12&13
Only Christ is DIVINE LOVE.
Something to think about.
Have a great weekend. Keep dry and warm……….Blaze LOVE.
