REPLACEMENT CHALLENGE

Good Morning!

A thought to ponder as we journey.  Is there something in our lives – actual, spiritual, or in our thinking that we can ‘replace’ with something ‘better’?

Only you can know the answer.

Replacement 3

I have one personal story and I’m not advocating others do likewise.  It’s an example only.

A couple of years ago I was horrified to find obscene words had been scrawled all over the walls of the girls toilet cubicles.   I had just purchased several sheets of award stickers for a group of children.   On impulse before I left I covered every obscene word with a beautiful image of a butterfly.  The transformation was dazzling.   Then, reality kicked in.  Was I in my own way defacing the walls?   I guiltily slunk away.

A few hours later I returned to town.   People were talking about the beautiful Images in the girls toilets.  A friend even insisted she took me to show me.  Everyone was laughing and happy.     The ending to this story is someone reported it to the Council.   They came, and a few weeks later, replaced all the toilet walls with new walls.  This time, they were covered with coloured tiles. Never again could anyone scrawl obscene words on these new walls.

A hole in the ground – possibility of filling it in.  Plant a tree

An angry outburst – possibility of a gentle response (now that’s a hard one)

See something ugly or depressing – share something beautiful.   paint a picture…knit a scarf.

Don’t let the ugly be in your life and heart.

REPLACE!

When ugliness swamps the media turn it off! Go for a walk…Look at the stars.

REPLACE!

Can you make a difference to someone’s life today…….simply with a smile.   DO IT!

Have a brilliant day!

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Lovely post Faye! Yes, I can understand how you felt maybe you did the same with the walls. But thank You Lord, all things work for your good, and seeing your heart He turned the event into a wonderful opportunity to share this encouraging story! Yes, speak life.. The power of life and death in the tongue and in the choices we make daily:) blessings:)
