A thought for you to ponder as you go into a new week.
A memory – a photograph can evoke feelings of happiness. A moment frozen in time when all around is green yet the sound of the sea is in the background.
There is such a frenzy in our world today. People want to be happy. Belief that accumulating lots of ‘stuff’ will bring it. Some person some event – ie marriage, publishing a story, graduating from university etc etc. Yet this pursuit can often lead to the exact opposite. Achieving what some folk THINK will make them happy turns out to be a bitter disappointment and then depression and often despair results.
I found the following quote in a book. I do not know who wrote it but it certainly spoke TRUTH to me.
IF WE LEARN HOW TO GIVE OF OURSELVES, TO FORGIVE OTHERS, AND TO LIVE EACH DAY WITH THANKSGIVING WE NEED NEVER TO SEEK HAPPINESS. IT WILL SEEK US.
May we all apply this to our lives this week.
May it be a beautiful journey in the midst of the trials of daily living.
Let’s LIGHT up someone else’s darkness.

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Faye, this is beautiful! The photo pulls one down a wonderful ‘pathway’ of thought and I so enjoyed the quote! Isn’t it true…our happiness does always seem to be just ‘around the bend,’ no matter how far we travel. That is until we take a moment to look to the side, and recognize it’s been walking beside us all of the way. Hugs to you for the joy that you bring!
