My plans – a GLITCH – another purpose?

Good Morning!

An unexpected trip away……..Not at all as planned……a midweek thought to share.

Glitch 2

The definition of Glitch I found states…..It can happen in life when what we expected does not happen at ALL.   And……… Concern? Acceptance? or maybe a dawning revelation that perhaps it was for another purpose.

At the weekend we made an unexpected journey interstate to attend the 95th Birthday of David’s Aunt.   Frequent Flyer points had been saved perhaps for David to go to her funeral.  We decided, we packed we went.   Cousins picked us up and with more driving etc  arrived at their place.   Wonderful social afternoon.   I knew I felt very, very, tired.   Personally I wanted to have a shower and go to bed BUT…..lovely dinner prepared so I sat down to eat a ‘little’.        Sadly, it was not meant to be.   I did not actually pass out but to cut the story short found myself in paramedics care and eventually in hospital.  I was kept there all night and for most of the following day.

I did not go to the party!

In hospital while I began to feel GREAT indications and assessments were obviously not as expected.   I have a pace-maker (through quite miraculous circumstances this high-tech latest device was installed a year ago by the specialist who perfected and approved the device…the very latest from Boston  in U.S.  for patients as a prevention measure for odd folks like me who very rarely have a skip in their heart.)    This team of young doctors contacted the Boston specialists and to their surprise an expert arrived within an hour.   She spoke to me about what was ‘normal’ for me could print out as ‘abnormal’ when viewed by others.  She had a wonderful consultation time with these young doctors and nurses and showed them the printout of what had happened with me.   No really BIG DEAL at all.   My blood pressure went down because I was tired and needed to simply rest.   My heart decided to skip a beat and the combination of both together  lower blood pressure and slower heart beat…tired body and  – feeling of leaving everything behind.   A suggestion was made to prepare this device to cope with a similar over-tired situation so it was in essence a GOOD THING for my wellbeing.

From the perspective of that hospital they affirmed that my emergency arrival with them had helped them all learn more about a technology that they did not even know was available in their city.

I had a lovely time with the Aunt and the cousins before we flew home again the next day!

If the glitch for me is of benefit to ‘others’ how can I ever regard it as not part of a better purpose.    For your interest the holiday photo taken by my husband.

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better. I won’t say it was worth it if some good comes out of it, but it’s good that something that started badly had a postive ending.
