Grins- GROUCHY – GRUMPY then Grace

Good Morning! – An unexpected and unplanned blog.

Grouchy

This week for me began with high hopes and a positive attitude and Joy and Strength of God propelled me forward.

Grateful for healing and for past valleys I set out looking forward to gentle ongoing recovery and ‘life’.   Not to be.  I had a medical check up – all fine – and a Pneumonia and Flu injection.  Also blood samples taken at request of my Eye specialist.     My arm became hot, heavy and swollen during the night .   I also had an injection in my eye the next day so midway through the week found me with a heavy useless left arm and difficulty ‘seeing’ through the right eye.    This was not conducive to the JOY of God being my strength.

Then I revisited my doctor.   She was so kind, and sympathetic and voiced my own inner thought…….not fair! not fair! More silly stuff yet in no way (gratitude to God..life threatening).

Inside Grumpy, Grouchy emerged but when the Doctor gave me a hug and compassionately said ‘You are still smiling, Darling. What an encouragement you are to me.” a lot of ‘self-focus’ disintegrated.    What a sham! Smiling on the outside but wanting to smash something on the inside.        That’s Grace!

Then, one by one other gentle images of Grace occurred.     At the clinic where David had to go for a physio appointment, there was a huge picture on the front desk.   A baby kangaroo was carefully opening its mother’s pouch before climbing back inside.   The expressions on both baby and mother were so realistic and tender, I was heart stirred.

On the back wall was a sign …..’Please only bring JOY when you visit here’.   I looked at the receptionist and she gave me a ‘thumbs’ up when I said to her……’The joy of the Lord is our Strength’.     To have a faith connection in that place was a real Gift of Grace and I returned home to sitting with an arm wrapped in a frozen block, wearing sunglasses and praying for our granddaughter who had been admitted to hospital with appendicitis.

Not the week I had imagined and I feel for so many of you – It has probably been similar.   My prayer then for us all is that we will simply one foot at a time go ‘onwards’ ever looking ‘upwards’ for future Hope.

Blessings!    and Peace! to each one.

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Grumpy-grouchy! 😂 I love the image of Oscar…and always found it so artistically creative that he is green (over too much envy, do doubt!). Thank you for sharing Faye – It is always good to be reminded that we often times need to stumble through joy, but that it is always there in the end when our eyes remain heavenward!! Hugs to you dear, sweet friend!

Faye, thank you for sharing your ups and downs with us. We are praying. Is the injection in your eye for macular degeneration? My husband gets one each month in his right eye for wet macular degeneration. He is uncomfortable that one day but nothing like what you have described.

Not sure if I can reply here to you Judy. I value and thank you for prayers. No the eye was not the problem. All sorted now thank God. No it was a combination of the Flu Injection, Pneumonia Injection and the blood tests. It must have been a reaction to the Pneumonia one. My eye is not macular or degeneration …….but…..one of the blood vessels behind the eye ruptured. Maybe from eye stress during radiation or even the few tabs I took where I got a headache. The hope is that full site will be restored to the right eye after six injection. Its all been one thing after another. Thank you for commenting and know I do want my blog to be truthful, faithful, about God but a journey of ups and downs as they come. He is ever Lord in the midst of all. Blessing and Gratitude.
