Bitter-sweet – a Christian Journey

A vine invasive plant

To everything there is a season.   A time for every purpose under heaven.   Eccs. 3:1

This Christ-life has the potential because of HIM – His Sacrifice and our Kingdom Calling,  to take us into places  of the most exquisite beauty…..Love, Music, Paintings, Imagination, Photography, various depths of writing……in fact  ALL  of life’s fullest appreciations.

But – also an acute understanding of human fragility and unexpected possibilities of invasive vines, which attempt to block the beautiful outpouring of their life.

Yesterday in one day we, David and I, experienced the bitter-sweet two  sides of this Christ-life.

As a mother, grandmother connecting personally with our daughter and her family (husband and two children) was ABSOLUTE JOY.   After months of Covid 19 separation we had a wonderful day.

The ‘other’ side too we all must journey is also very REAL!

Our beautiful, 1st born child – our daughter- has a life-impacting terminal illness.   This has suddenly invaded her life and effects everyone who loves her.

BITTER-SWEET – the Certainly of GOD above it all.   Beauty and precious the memories we now forge to life.

BITTER or heart-searing is the KNOWING that time may be short.

BUT…………..

EVERYONE HAS ONLY this day and for all who journey WITH and in CHRIST.

…………….  May His Will and His Life be the ultimate determining for A L L our  life ‘and for all life journeys.

A-men.

                               LOVE IS ETERNAL !

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

Dear sweet Faye! I am grateful for the joy you experienced with loved ones, but my heart aches with you regarding your eldest. Please know I have placed her in my prayers in asking God to be gentle with her as He may be preparing her to come home to be with Him. And may He be gracious in the amount of time she may yet remain here on earth with all those who love & cherish her. Most especially her beloved Mum. 💕
