A mid-week thought
YOUR GREATEST TREASURES ARE THOSE WHICH YOU CARRY IN YOUR HEART
I’m not sure who is responsible for the original quotation above but yesterday I discovered the real truth of this. One of my blogging friends wrote about how she was overwhelmed by something significant she saw and how memories flooded back.
Yesterday 17th October, was the 47th anniversary of my marriage to David and yes there were many, many memories evoked by this day of reflection. For me it was finding the picture above, while looking for something quite different. I was swamped by thoughts of my childhood, my parents, and my own children as little babies. Once again I remembered in clarity the overwhelming feeling I had long ago, when I broke through the trees and saw the ocean unexpectedly before me. It was a holiday but the smells, thoughts, feelings and sheer joy of long ago came flooding back.
How important it is that we keep our eyes ever alert for the bubbles of joy we may encounter as part of normal life. Journey well towards the week-end and see what treasures you may find as a stored memory in the heart.
