Are we prisoners to the Christmas Season?

Paul wrote from Prison in ROME to the Ephesians ‘I am a prisoner of Jesus Christ’
He did not consider himself imprisoned by Nero but His Love for His Saviour caused him to use his days to comfort the gentile burgeoning church.
My thought today is simply about things we ‘do’ or feel we have to ‘do’ simply because it is Christmas Time.
Take a prayerful look at what you are ‘doing!” Is it because you are expressing that you are a prisoner of Jesus Christ and it is HIS LOVE that prompts your actions, or is it because you are driven by someone’s expectations of what you should be ‘doing’?
I faced this honestly as I decorated a Christmas Tree. Why? This tradition was not always a part of my necessary Christmas as a child………. My father preferred an escape to a distant beach.
Something happened in my heart as I pondered reasons. David and I will be alone this Christmas BUT………….the Reason for the Season is deep in both our hearts so yes maybe I am a prisoner to remembrance in the Season.
If everything I DO is because of LOVE……..I am a prisoner of Jesus Christ and any beauty that shines in our home and lives that proclaims His LOVE then I (we) ………..David puts up lights that only he and I may see) will with JOY and ANTICIPATION put it in place. Gifts, decorations, meals ALL celebration of a special BIRTHDAY…..HIS and all the ‘born again’ who are journeying towards His KIngdom Age and our own eternity.!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EXPECTATIONS TO ALL!
May His LOVE infuse your DAY OF Celebration.
A-men.
Amen, Faye. You bring up a great question: why am I doing what I do during this holy season.
This pandemic has taken away all of our Christmas party obligations. And guess what? We haven’t missed it!
Perhaps this Christmas can be more like the first one over 2000 years ago.

Faye, I want to stop a bit here to tell you that you do so appreciate our “sister-hood” made possible by being members of the family of God. Thank you for the likes and comments you leave for me. They are a gift much treasured by bloggers. Those of us who minister in this way for the Lord, do it for love of Him but an awesome side effect of this ministry is to make friends all over the world. I value that so much. Merry Christmas to you and David. Enjoy the Christmas treasurers of beauty you have in your home. They are a reminder of who you worship. They are not idols that you worship. Enjoy your tree and other bits of the season.
