A Glorious Call heralded the dawn

The beautiful carrolling of the bird woke me.

Only the briefest flicker of dawn lightened the Eastern sky.

Behind our house from a high treetop another bird joined in the glorious song.

Beneath the canopy of red flowers on the bougainvillea near our bedroom window, I could make out, in the dim light , a small brown bird.

It’s tiny body shook the leaves. The sound vibrated through his minute frame.

The illustration image above is a look-alike only. I have sought advice from experts who know all the species found in S.E. Queensland . It could be one of a possible three.

I only know in the thirty-seven years we have lived here, I have heard the dawn chorus from the throats of many birds.

This week the solo song from this tiny throat remains clear in my heart and mind.

A tiny brown body – a glorious sound.

Do you ever feel unnoticed or not very ‘interesting?

God delights in using the ‘least likely’ to fulfill HIS highest HOLY PURPOSES.

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

  1. How true your final statement is, Faye! Yes, I often feel overlooked, but it’s more an issue with my selfish pride. God has a job for each of us. Finding out what that is—day to day—should be enough. Blessings.

  2. Alan Kearns says:

In birdwatching terms your bird is an LBJ…”a little brown job!” This is the tongue in cheek reference given to a myriad of wee brown birds of uncertain type. But the beauty that is in each of them is unique in His Creation, He knows each of them personally! Each has it’s unique purpose in His plan as we also do. In worldly terms we are indistinct and mostly unkown but we are His children saved by Grace, He knows us intimately each and every day. Just like the LBJ in your garden Faye!

Thank you Alan. Several birdwatchers in my area are excited by my question. This little bird, not seen often, but with a glorious voice.(I am glad I heard it even this once) God indeed wants to use each of us for His unique Purposes. Blessings and Love to you this day.
