LION of JUDAH – Meditation – a true life story.

Good Morning!

Rev:5:5 Figurative of Christ Himself. Lion from the tribe of Judah – The Root of David.

In early 2013 my small community was declared a disaster area.  A small, almost forgotten pocket of people was overlooked when a massive rain event,  including cyclone, blocked roads and took down power lines. We had been without power for several days and were isolated from the outside world.   Many low lying homes were underwater.   For David and I (we live on a ridge)  isolation was intense.   We did not even know if our nearest neighbours (1kilometre) were  still alive.  We acted like we were camping.  We had bottled water and  because of a gas stove were able to live reasonably comfortably cooking food before it deteriorated. Neither of our mobile phones worked.  Dave once got a signal on his by climbing a tree.   For us it was a time of creativity and resourcefulness BUT concern for others made the isolation stressful. It was a God Time ie prayer and reading and for that I give Thanks. Part of Life…..part of the journey.

A few weeks later a small team of people – funded by our local council – came to our local Hall to ‘minister’ to the ladies.  We were invited to attend a morning tea and be pampered with massage and all manner of foot, head and body therapies. It was obvious it was -alternative – new age and not Christian aid – very secular in approach but the folk were loving and enthusiastic.

‘Come darling’ said a smiling one in a purple robe. ‘It would be my great pleasure to give you a restorative and relaxing body rub.’

‘I get all my Power from the cosmos’ she added brightly.

‘I get mine from the Creator of the Cosmos’

‘Whatever!’

‘I will draw my strength now from the Universe’

‘Ok.  I will draw mine from the Divine.’

‘We’ll begin with a meditation.  Choose an animal’ she said.

In that moment inspiration and faith washed over me.

‘A lion’ I replied.

‘What a powerful choice.   Lot’s of energy from that noble beast.  Why did you choose that may I ask.?

‘Yes! Lion of Judah.’

‘Well ok. I’ll now do what I normally do.’

‘And I’ll meditate and pray while you do it’ I answered.

What happened is the truth of my life’s journey and is my certainty of the Lordship of Jesus Christ in and through all things.

She began her massage of neck, shoulders, back, legs and arms.  She was murmuring and muttering. Her hands became stronger and also surprisingly gentle.

I continued to meditate on the Lion of Judah -Rev 5.5 Who He is was and ever will be.   I softly prayed for connection to Christ my Lord.

‘Breathe in and out deeply’ she now encouraged.

I breathed in God the Holy Spirit and exhaled anxieties, worries fears etc.

This whole experience lasted about 1/2 an hour.

Personally I was incredibly invigorated and more aware of God’s Presence in life than I ever was before.

The lady was shaking.  ‘Wow! Oh Wow! was all she could say.  My arms and hands are tingling.  I have never known such warmth or power in all my experience of massage.’

At that moment ladies from all across the hall began walking towards her.  ‘Me next please! What was happening here was extraordinary.   It was kinda ‘glowing. We want the same.’

My lady looked at me as if appealing for ‘Help’.

‘If you like’, I whispered, ‘I’ll go and sit quietly now and pray for you all.’

At no time during this incredible day of healing and restoration was the Gospel preached yet I knew as I quietly sat and prayed His Presence was with us all.

Testimonies of healing and thankfulness were voiced to the  Shire Council who provided this team.   The Restorative and helpful ministry in the Hall that day is part of our history.

I thank God that some now are not ashamed to admit the power in the restoration and healing came from a Higher Source.

Think on this.   Was this Christian Meditation?

About Faye

I m a wife, mother and grandmother. I have always enjoyed writing even from an early age. My book Beyond the Ashes has been written as a labour of love. All the characters are real to me and their story needed to be told. As a Christian my desire is to write General Fiction stories about real people but Hope and a desire for 'better' will always be part of the journey. I have had several short stories published over the years and moderate success in writing competitions. I realized as I was thinking today (30/01/15) that perhaps I should add here that I have had life experiences of many valley times but also many mountain top experiences. I can understand and be beside anyone who finds their life in tatters because I have 'been' there. Of course as I have got older as well there have been the added sorrows of losing not only older family members but also one by one finding the dearest of friends and the ones of greatest support and care also dying. On the site of rich mountains has been my certainty of the value of marriage and how grateful I am that after loss and sadness I made a happy and long-lasting marriage commitment. The one who was my best friend back then is still my best friend 45 years later. Beyond the Ashes touches upon the POWER of LOVE when folk can forget about their own personal 'feelings' and reach out in LOVE to a desperate and broken person.

I don’t know. What do you think? The thirsty like water whether or not it is given in Jesus’ name but he said give it in his name. Tell me more.

All are drawn to Jesus… Power of prayer. We limit His ability to “touch” someone by our 5 senses. I am sure when your “massage” lady laid her tired head in her pillow that night, she was remembering the experience. Once touched by the Lion of Judah, one can never remain the same! Awesome witness!!

His word does not return void. You planted a seed that day- perhaps many.

Faye, it’s me again. I came back to see what others commented about the Christian meditation question. I’ll comment a little further about my thoughts. Since your “lady” was invited by a council – I assume, a secular council, I believe you used great wisdom in what you did. I have experienced church “ministries” that are all about doing good but with little or no mention of Jesus. I even heard one trainee who said they were learning how to witness without using the name of Jesus. I believe that is humanism only even if done by church people. But one does have to obey secular “rules” sometimes (unless it is a “Paul and Silas” experience). May your prayers be answered. Prayers is always effective.
